Name:   Eli Beaufort
Description:   ~ 10 yrs old ~ 27 lb ~ fostered in Pasadena, MD ~

Eli is a sweet beagle. We sometimes call him “little” because compared to our other beagles he is tiny. He was extremely timid when he first came to us, but he has warmed up to us now. He still is timid when you reach out your hand, which leaves me to believe he was abused at some point.

He is tough and will do a little grunt/growl if one of the other dogs comes too close when he is sleeping, but in general seems to really like being around the other dogs. He has never gritted his teeth or even seemed a bit aggressive. He is all beagle. He has a mischievous streak. He likes to sneak the kitchen towels outside and bury them. He will also sneak socks. If you see him with the towels/socks he will bring them to you and give them up if you ask. It’s somehow naughty and cute at the same time.

He had heartworm treatment, so he has a large patch of shaved hair on his back. He still has some problems with going potty in the house. He knows to use our doggy door, but sometimes he is lazy or stubborn.

He is so sweet and very soft. He loves to be scratched on the chin. He doesn’t mind being picked up and was very good in the car on the way to the vet’s office. He, like all beagles, really loves his food, and will gobble it up. He uses special prescription kidney food. He is currently finishing up his medication for heartworm treatment and should be done in a few days.
