Name:   Brett Tarboro (now Rhett)

Description:   ~ 2 yrs old ~ 46 lb Hound mix ~ fostered in Sykesville, MD ~

This beautiful guy is a hound lover's dream! Brett is a laid back, happy Treeing Walker Coon Hound. He is heartworm positive, but can be placed in an adoptive home during his treatment.

Brett has been amazing with his foster brother and sister beagles. He settled right in with no adjustment, and then moved to a new home with his foster family a week later! None of these changes had any effect on his sweet nature. He loves everyone and everything...and it is impossible to be in a bad mood around this dog, his beautiful face will make you smile.

Brett loves lounging on the sofa, eating, running in the yard, and rearranging dog beds and blankets. He is not destructive, just likes to add his personal touch to the home. Also, Brett is NOT a noisy dog! He will bark (in a lovely coon hound tone) when his foster mom leaves the home, or if he spies a squirrel he can't get to (who wouldn't, really?) but he is very quiet otherwise. Brett will make a wonderful companion for the right adopter!

Success Story:   A note from his new family:

Rhett is settling in nicely! He really is a sweet boy. We are taking it slow and giving him time to get settled. We consider it a win that by the end of the first week, he now prefers couches, following us around, or even his dog bed to the crate that we set up to give him an initial "safe space" (if he needed one). He has also taken to collecting a clothing (or a shoe) our one sons leaves on the floor to put in on his bed to lay on. We are taking the introductions slowly to our resident 2 louder more rambunctious rescues- a beagle/coonhound mix and a basset/coonhound mix. We have no doubt that as they spend more time around each other that they will try and indoctrinate him into their "more typical" hound attributes of speed eating and barking. ??
