Name:   Roseanne Columbia

Description:   ~ 6 yrs old ~ 30 lb ~ fostered in Potomac, MD

Officially my name is Roseanne but foster mom calls me Rosie. I am a smart girl and know my name but if you offer me the right treats I don't even care what you want to call me. I like food like as much as any Beagle and I am super easy going, so don't even bother hiding medicine or supplements in fancy pill pockets. Just toss everything in my bowl with my food and I will gobble it right up. Yes, I need to take medication right now because when I came into rescue I was infested with these nasty heartworms that could have killed me, but with the help of the vet I am getting rid of them. Foster mom says she can tell things are working because I am suddenly interested in chasing birds, squirrels and even foxes outside the house. At home I am still a relaxed couch potato who does not chase, chew or do anything destructive. I love having a companion because I am a little shy and unsure so I follow my buddy. I am a good girl and want to do the right thing. I only bark when someone comes to the door or when the neighbor's dogs start barking at me first. I will be done with my heartworm treatment in the beginning of August so file your application soon.

Success Story:   From Rosie's new family: (minor editing)

Good to hear from you! Rosie is doing great! She barks when I let them go to the fenced field next to our backyard to run after breakfast and she is really trimming down! She sleeps with Rocket and with Apple (Apple is also from Beagle Maryland - Ewa knows Apple). We love Rosie!

In the photo from this morning, you can see Rosie coming in for breakfast (I have to call her in because she is an early riser and loves to be in the backyard "reading the newspaper" (sniffing around) - as I call it! We now have a squirrel nearby, so I think Mr. Squirrel is out when the beags are sleeping and then they wake up and find out he's been in their backyard! LOL!

The next photo shows the beags (and beagle wanna-bes!) waiting to go run in the field. Then you can see Rosie in great anticipation at the front waiting for the gate to open. Then off she goes! She is fast!!

She barks a lot and gets very happy when it is not raining and she can run with her pack! She is very, very good. No growling, no squabbles, nothing negative from Rosie. She is accepting and a real team player!

She still does not like going in the crate to eat breakfast and dinner, but if I put her food in first, then she goes in on her own! I do give her a little biscuit extra even though she is on a diet. She loves her cot and she really loves the doogie door! And at night, she gets held by me before bed and I talk with her and tell her how good she is. Everyone gets held and individually talked to before bed. In the morning, they are too excited to go run, so cuddling is not on their agenda.

Rosie comes up to me for hugs and does not mind being held. She is not one to really look me in the eye but she likes human contact. Most of all, she likes her new brothers (3) and sisters (8) and she doesn't mind the cats either! ??

I am looking forward to her weigh-in when our vet comes for the annual check up in December. I can see that she is already trimming up. She loves to run and run to her heart's content in whichever direction she feels that day!

Thank you for rescuing her and thank you for letting us adopt her! What a joy Rosie is!
