Name:   Nutmeg Milford

Description:   ~ 7 yrs old ~ 15-20 lb ~ fostered in Bowie, MD ~

Nutmeg (aka Meggie) is such a sweetheart! She’s quiet but then she can run around and play with our chihuahua. She loves to be in the yard, lay on her back and scratch her back on the grass, she enjoys rawhide free bones & occasionally likes to bury them in the yard (LOL). She loves the couch and a good comfy dog bed. She likes to go in her crate (she had a nice cozy bed in there) but we never close the door. We have baby gates set up and our girls have run of the first floor and use the dog door to explore the yard when we are home.

Before Meg figured out the doggy door she had 2 accidents inside. Since she figured it out, she has only gone potty outside. She recently discovered how to get into our bed with the other dogs (we have 3 others) and has been enjoying snuggles. So like I said, she is quiet but she has been enjoying the company of the other pups and has been playing and lounging with them.

She didn’t bark for the first week and now she will let out a good old beagle howl when she sees another dog (the neighbors) or when she’s playing with her bestest girlfriend Gertrude (our chihuahua). She’s not much for dog toys as of yet and we have plenty. We haven’t had any issues with her digging or trying to climb or get out. She will get a dirty nose if she’s trying to bury a bone. She doesn’t endlessly eat like typical beags - we just leave all our girls food out and they eat as they please out of their own bowls throughout the day. She is a good eater though.

She is on the smaller side which makes her that much cuter. She’s lower to the ground so sometimes has trouble hopping on the couch. We have dog steps up to our bed so she’s learned all about those. She’s been good on a leash and of course we use a harness for walks, this keeps her safe. We have noticed if you open the gate or front door, she will try to jet and seems determined to exit. She loves my husband and after breakfast and potty this morning, she walked her little self back up the stairs to snuggle with him in bed. She’s pretty low key. She will be a joy to have in any house. She will try to dart out any open door, in true beagle fashion. A home with friendly dogs would be a plus, but they feel she would also be good as an "only" dog.
