Hershey is a very handsome and sweet beagle mix who has just arrived in rescue. He has just met his foster mom, so a more accurate assessment of his personality will be forthcoming. We're just getting to know him. What we know of him so far is that he's a friendly, curious little guy who figured out the dog door within two minutes of arrival. So far, it's his favorite toy. Hershey is a little bit hand shy and is reluctant to approach the humans. He'll do it, but it's tentative and he'll back off if your reach out to pet him too quickly. He prefers that you get down to his level, and if you raise your voice to your other dog, spouse or child, he runs away. It's going to take him some time to learn to trust. He does enjoy canine companions - and another happy, outgoing dog will help build his confidence. He doesn't yet walk well on lead and a secure fence is a must. For now, a quiet adult home would be best for him. Boisterous, quick moving children will overwhelm him.
