Name:   Ace Hughes

Description:   ~ 2 yrs ~ Fostered in Manassas, VA ~

Ace started fostering with us in early December of 2019. He is a neutered beagle with what looks like a little other hound mixed in him. He currently weighs 22 pounds and is 2 years and 2 months old (11/02/17).

Ace is a sweet little pup who is still learning a lot and exploring the world. He is a nervous pup at the start, but he quickly learns to settle into his environment. Once he has a chance to settle in, he becomes much more comfortable and really opens up to his true attitude. He just started going into daycare and he really enjoys playing with the other pups. While he was quite hesitant at first, he now runs around wrestling and playing with the other small pups like a champ, you would never know that he was ever scared.

Ace is really good with people and can learn to like new people fairly quick. He’s comfortable with almost all our staff at this point and everybody who meets him likes him a lot. He does well on car rides and will usually just curl up in the front seat and take a quick nap till you get to wherever you’re headed. Being a hound, he loves food and he likes to chase you around if he sees you with food, hoping that he will get a little piece.

At the moment, Ace is not fully potty trained in his kennel and still has accidents from time to time, but it is something we are working on. In a home environment, on a regular schedule, we think he could learn pretty quick when the appropriate time to go to the bathroom is.

Ace's interactions with other dogs have been great so far. He is regularly participating in doggy daycare and gets along well with most all of the dogs that he has met. He should do fantastic in a home with children and/or other pets.
