Name:   Yanni George (aka Gus)

Description:   ~ 30 lb ~ 2 to 4 yrs old ~ Fostered in Colonial Beach, VA ~

UPDATE: 4/30/2019

Gus recently changed foster homes as he does best with other playful dogs. His foster mom has observed:

- Gus lovesssss to play!

- He will howl and bark at times, but not obnoxiously so.

- He certainly loves his humans, but he spends most his time in the kitchen sniffing around or playing with the other dogs in our home.

- He is higher energy and would be good for a house with another pet that likes to play. He has not shown any sign of being destructive, and I am sure he would be fine to left roam around the house when no one is home as he would spend his whole time in the kitchen.

ORIGINAL POST: This is a very sweet, handsome, young fellow loves to play. He has a lot of energy and enjoys running around the back yard, playing fetch. He has a silly streak and is a bit mischievous at times, yet does not jump on the furniture. His favorite games right now are playing with his own reflection in the mirror – as if it were another dog – and playing with squeaky, crinkly toys. All may be quiet in the evening, with the quiet suddenly pierced by a SQUEAK! He needs regular exercise and a fenced back yard, and would do well as an only dog or with another for company. He is OK with cats as long as there is another dog to play with. If his only choice of a playmate is the cat, chances are that your cat will need therapy. He is good with kids and he has a lot of love to give. He is doing well with house training. He is affectionate, and always enjoys an ear rub, back rub, or belly rub.

Success Story:

July 18 -

I just read the summary I sent...and believe it or not, Gus has come a long way! He knows sit, stay, come, heel (which is his best!), go to place, and down. We’re still working on Leave it. He may not get that one any time soon, though.
Gus is the best dog. We love him so much!!

June 7 - Gus is the best dog. We love him so much!!We are so happy that Gus has become a member of our family. Even though there is quite an age difference between our other beagle Millie (13 years young), Gus (2 years old) loves her and wants to play and snuggle. Millie is getting used to Gus and often follows Gus around the house and yard.
We love Gus very much and are teaching him the basic commands. He’s so smart....is picking up sit, stay, come, settle, down, and leave it...although “heel” needs some work.
He is such a joy to have around, and Millie no doubt will come to love her little brother. Gus is so comical, throwing his ball in the air (but not always catching it....probably won’t make the major leagues), and he loves all his toys.
Life with Gus and Millie is great!
