Name:   Piper Warren

Description:   ~ 5 yrs old ~ 43 lbs ~ fostered in Manassas,at Healthy Hound Playground in Sterling, VA ~

Piper has just arrived in rescue, but we can already tell that she is a sweetheart. She was calm and collected in the car and very happy to have your hand scratching her ears as we drove. While waiting to meet her foster dad, our transport volunteer took her for a walk and happened upon a large flock of geese. She looked and then shrugged. “Much better to be walking with this human who is telling me how good I am than to chase stupid birds!” The volunteer also stopped to shop at a nursery with Piper in tow. She was unbelievably well behaved. She seemed interested in the children present, but it was too soon to introduce her to strangers. Piper is not a beagle (although she may have a rougue beagle or two in her lineage), but is a hound mix, about 45 lbs. If you are looking for a calm companion, Piper is your girl. So far she is fairly uninterested in the other dogs in her home, but as the newbie in the house, it may be just a matter of everyone getting used to the new normal. Right now she’s just trying to fit in and not step on anyone’s toes. She’s a bit itchy, so has had a nice soothing bath and is being given Benedryl. Seasonal allergies, we suspect. We look forward to seeing Piper blossom in a family environment. She’s in an active foster home with multiple dogs, so she’ll be well socialized by the time she’s ready for her forever home. If you are interested in adopting Piper (and you’d be crazy not to!), please contact icanhelp@beaglemaryland.org. This is an easy girl to love.
