Name:   Beau George

Description:   ~ 2 yrs ~ 26 lbs ~ fostered in Catonsville, MD

Poor Beau ended up in a shelter after being hit by a car. The shelter contacted us to take him immediately. And he had to have surgery even before his stray hold was up, but we were there for him. On top of the surgery, he is heartworm positive. He's recovered from the surgery, and although he can run amazingly fast, his gait is unusual and needs help going up/down stairs. (He can do it physically, but needs confidence.) He also can't scratch his ears, so he needs a healthy massage every day. He would benefit from a nice long walk every day to build up the muscles in his back legs.

Beau is on the shy side, but warms up after a few weeks. He freaks out a bit over loud noises. He is petrified when strangers come to the house. (Hard to get him back in the house, even after the stranger has left.) He loves to bask outside when the weather is good. He has a beautiful face and very soft fur. He was treated for heart worm disease in April.

I'm looking for a specific sort of home for Beau. We love him so much that we would adopt him, but I would rather he be in a home where he has a canine wrestling and running companion. He wants to run zoomies in the yard with other dogs, and mine will only occasionally comply. Beau can be very loud when he finds the trail of a squirrel, but we want him in a home where he can bark like crazy because he loves being in the yard so much. He will stay out for hours and hours, even in 90+ degrees. He is not a good candidate for a townhouse. Probably not good with a doggy-door, unless you block it off early and late. He cannot go to a house without a fenced-in yard.
