Name:   Lewie Nash

Description:   ~ 8 months old ~ 22 lb ~ Fostered in Arlington, VA ~

Lewie is a joyful playing fool! There is absolutely NOTHING he likes better than rolling and chasing. He plays hard, he sleeps hard. Lewie is one of a pack of hound puppies unceremoniously dumped in a kill shelter in the south, most likely the result of an accidental litter. The three pups had the good fortune of a willing foster in Maryland and are now awaiting their permanent homes.

Lewie is a puppy in every way. He needs patient training to learn to walk on lead, sit, stay and potty outside. He's a smart boy and will learn quickly with positive reinforcement. He would absolutely ADORE being placed with another non-aggressive playful dog and/or playful children. He loves human attention and he was such a blur that we had a hard time snapping photos of him! Lewie would thrive in a home with a securely fenced back yard, but if you're a runner, or walk your dog exclusively, that's not a deal breaker. Those long hound legs would enjoy the opportunity to run, though. Unless you work from home we absolutely do NOT recommend a home in an apartment or condo. The exuberance and noise of a young hound will make you very unpopular with your neighbors.

Success Story:   He is settling in great; it took him a few days to really seem comfortable around us and show us his true colors, but the past few days we have been seeing more of his goofy/playful personality. He is working on housebreaking but overall does great, and walks over to the back door when he needs to go in the yard. He is great with the kids, playful but doesn't jump on the baby. He spends a lot of time lounging on the couch and we are also working on getting him and the cat comfortable with each other. We are so happy to have him!
