Name:   Pepper Northhampton

Description:   ~ 4 yrs old ~ fostered in Cockeysville, MD ~

Pepper is a very pretty, petite beagle girl. DNA tests reveal that she is purebred. She was picked up as a stray in North Carolina, hugely pregnant, and we pulled her from a tiny local animal control facility just before she gave birth to eight large puppies! She was been a devoted mother to her big brood but isn't entirely happy being around human children. She is not a danger to them - she would just rather have quieter roommates. Pepper does well in a crate, and is very quiet and docile. As a shy dog, she would appreciate a dog companion or a human who is home more often than not. She has completed heart worm treatment and antibiotics for erlichia.. Pepper loves affection, but one gets the impression that her early life didn't have much to spare. She loves ear rubs and will sit at her foster mom's feet for long periods. She is easily startled, and will often hunker down and hug the floor in response to sudden noises or movements. She gets along well with other dogs. Pepper does very well on a leash. She would prefer a house with adults and maybe some older kids. Babies and toddlers are too scary.

Success Story:   Pepper is doing well, though still easily startled by simple things around the house. Put a bag in a new place, and she will not pass by it. Helps us be a bit more tidy. :)

Not quite accident free, but we are getting close. Well, mostly we need to make sure we get her out on schedule. She has given no sign yet that she needs to go out. No biggie - the two rugs she pees on are really old anyway.

Not food crazy, but she has embraced getting a treat after she goes out to potty.

She loves Otis, the guinea pig. Licks him, like he his one of her puppies.

We love her so much, quirks and all.
