Name:   Suzie Henderson (now Elle)

Description:   ~ 6 yrs ~ 18 lbs ~ NOW ADOPTED Fostered in Lewis, DE ~

From the time I put her in the crate in my car, Suzie has been stealing hearts. I don't know how many head rubs Suzie had received in Kentucky as she pushed her head into my hand when I rubbed her head through the crate. At home, we greeted her with a bath, which she seemed to liked and never attempted to jump out of the sink. After her bath, she put on a polo, popped the collar, and off she went to explore her new surroundings. She discovered TV and stopped in her tracks to watch Lifetime Movie Network with total intrigue. She was given a bone and immediately took off exploring the house in order to find a proper hiding place where the other two pesky beagles would not find it. Once she was convinced her foster-siblings were just as busy enjoying their bones she stuck her rear in the air and chewed away while scooting across the floor.

Suzie now has standards and prefers a plush lifestyle. She has decided the cozy dog bed is now a place to lounge and snooze during the day and while watching Lifetime at night. She is a huge fan of organic treats and sweet potato chewies. She actually led a brigade to remove 2 bags of these treats and a bag of rawhide bones from a drawer while spending the morning in the laundry room while we were working.

It is impossible to get upset with her ornery antics as she has the prettiest eyes that turn down when she raises those beagle ears and looks at you as if to say, "who me?" Suzie Q is a very curious explorer and I get the feeling she may have been a pet at one point in her life. She bows her head when you put on her leash and sits on her hind quarters; she understands the commands "come," "sit.," "kennel," and "go get in your bed." She also understands when her people may get upset because she has had an accident. She is trying to not potty in the house but it's not easy since it appears she spent time in a kennel where all she had to do all day is pace and potty! She walks well on a leash and knows what it means to "go potty." She loves to meet new people and is super friendly and loving. Her very active foster-sister can't wait for her to figure out how to run, play tug-of-war, and fetch. Suzie isn't so sure about what that is all about but she takes pleasure in tearing up a paper towel. Suzie follows what the other doggies do in the house so I think it would be helpful for her to have siblings. The only hesitation she still has is climbing steps or going down them. That's okay, her foster mom carries her up and down the stairs if she doesn't make the full trip on her own. I have no doubt one day she will bound up those steps and surprise herself. She just needs to watch her peeps a few more times.

What else can I say about this little love? The second night, she decided it was nice to sleep in the big bed and enjoy the warmth of her people. She will sleep all night and is anxious to get outside and potty when everyone wakes up. She also enjoys walking on her back legs while curling her front paws under her chin. She likes to do this while dinner is being cooked or trying to retrieve a treat. She is fond of trips in the car and curls up in a little ball in her bed upon getting into the car. She doesn't make a peep and just sleeps while her foster sissies fight to sit in mom's lap or on her shoulders. The only times Suzie decides to "voice" her concerns are when she is in her crate and someone arrives home or there is a visitor at the front door. Other than that, she is just happy to be a lady of leisure. An adopting family must be willing to accommodate her high-maintenance status by providing fluffy beds/blankets, baths, doggie sweaters, lots of good food, time for taking walks, treats, lots of love & attention, and a sibling or two. Oh yes - she will need access to Lifetime Movie Network, as well. No slackers need apply as Suzie Q has become quite comfy with her new standards.
