Name:   Roger Henderson

Description:   ~ 27 lb ~ 5 yrs old ~ Fostered in Pomfret, MD

BRSM beagle Roger Henderson is looking for a special foster home where he can learn that consistent behavior is required. Overall, he is a friendly, likable, and well-behaved-dog, but because he has shown aggression on a handful of occasions, he is not a candidate for many of BRSM’s foster homes. Unlike most beagles, Roger can be selective about his company, and he started a fight with a smaller dog in his first foster home. On walks, some dogs he is happy to greet, and others he acts aggressive towards. He has also growled at small children and at an adult guest in his foster home -- again, he has been very friendly with most adults and some children.

Roger is a handsome four year old, thirty pound beagle with a sleek and muscular build. He has excellent house and leash manners and is calm and quiet, although as a beagle, he will share some excited bays if he sees something interesting out the window. He enjoys the company of his humans very much, but he is not a snuggler.

BRSM knows little about his past, except that he came from a Kentucky shelter where the volunteers thought he was a very nice dog. Since arriving in Maryland this past August, he has spent time in 4 homes and in boarding; it’s been a turbulent few months for him, which may help explain his troubles.

Because Roger’s behavior will need to be addressed before he is adopted, he needs a committed, experienced foster who will agree to either consult with a behaviorist or enroll him in training courses. BRSM will pay for and work with the foster to identify an appropriate behavioral program. Roger would be delighted to be an only dog, or to live with one other friendly dog where all of the interactions are supervised. We would love to help Roger find an appropriate living situation.
