Name:   Conall Dorchester
Description:   ~ 3 months ~ fostered in Sykesville, MD ~

Conall has a 6/6 heart murmur caused by a hole between his left and right ventricles. The vet said it is not something that can be surgically repaired, and it's unlikely that it will close on its own (though it IS possible...hope springs eternal). The left atrium and ventricle are already enlarged. He is at risk for congestive heart failure, among other things. The plan is that he will start pimobendan and have a recheck in 6 months to gauge how the left side of the heart is doing. As far as activity, I should restrict him from acting like a maniac as much as possible

He's definitely going to need a special owner who understand and accepts that he might not live as long as a dog without a heart condition. That said, he is the sweetest boy...he was so brave for the echocardiogram and the tech told me that his blood draw was very undramatic!!
