Name:   Tammy Charles
Description:   ~ 5-6 yrs old ~ 50 lb beagle mix ~ Fostered in Fallston, MD ~

Tammy is calm, gentle and quite fond of human affection. She was a shelter staff favorite, which no doubt led to her spending 100 days in the shelter while the staff looked for a safe haven. Fortunately, a foster stepped up and she is now safe in a loving home.

This truly is an exceptional dog, winning over our volunteer who went to the shelter to meet her, fell in love and worked tirelessly to secure a foster for her, to the shelter staff who recognized a sweet spirit who deserved to walk out on all four feet and kept her safe for a very long time. Tammy is a gentle giant who wants nothing more than to be doted on. She loves people and dogs alike; but should not live in a house with cats or other small animals. Like a true hound, she is led by her nose and has a natural prey instinct. Her long legs give her an advantage, especially when she jumps at seeing a squirrel. That said, she requires a 5 foot fence at minimum.

Tammy's house training is a work in progress. She should be let outside on a regular basis. While she prefers to not be crated, she avoids having accidents in her cage. At 5 years young, she is full of energy and could stand to put on a few pounds. She has a benign growth on her side, which does not stop her from playing with her foster siblings and running in the yard. While it is benign, it should continue to be monitored.
