Name:   Aunt Bea Bladen
Description:   ~ 10 yrs old ~ 22 lb ~ fostered in Berlin, MD ~

Aunt Bea is very sweet and gets along well with the other dogs. There is nothing that makes her happier than meal time and that's when she is the most vocal. She'll bark and dance around the kitchen when she knows I'm fixing her meal. She eats very fast and I have to watch her or she will eat the other dogs' food as well.

She does not like to go outside most of the time, especially in the rain, but I coax her outside with small treats. She is learning that she will not be left outside but will be allowed back into the comfort of the house before long. She loves her dog bed and she loves fuzzy, squeaky toys. You have to watch her with the toys though because she will eat the entire thing if you don't. She is generally very quiet but when we wake up in the morning she greets me with little squeaks and happy noises.

She is not a cuddler but she loves being petted and will almost always choose to be near us. She has a couple of habits that we continue to work on. She is constantly on the search for food and has gotten into my cabinets and pantry. I have child-proof locks on them now. She has a bit of a temper and does not like it if meal time rolls around and I'm not home. On the two occasions that has happened she has chewed up my belongings including my computer mouse. I have to Bea-proof the house if I am going to be out for long. Last, and most importantly, she is not yet housebroken. I am working on rewarding her for going outside as well as scolding her for going inside. She would do best in a home where there is someone there all or most of the day. She requires a lot of one on one attention to learn the manners and behaviors she was never taught before.

She would like at least one other dog in her family and she is fine with small children. I don't know about cats. She has filled out and is a really pretty dog. She is good on a leash. She doesn't tug or pull at all and she enjoys short walks. She is great in the car and just lays down and sleeps. She is a wonderful girl and just lacks some house manners. She deserves someone who will be patient and teach her what she needs to know.
