Name:   Sally G
Description:   ~ 4 yrs ~ 54 lb ~ fostered in Reston, VA ~

Sally started fostering with us in October of 2019. She is a spayed treeing walker mix currently weighing 52 pounds and is about 4 years old.

Sally is incredibly sweet and loves all people. Her favorite thing to do is run up to the nearest person and hop up to give them a hug (she will hold on)! So far, she has been fairly laid back, however the longer she is here we have started seeing hints of a playful active side. She will get short bursts of energy where she runs around the room before hopping up onto a couch or dog bed. She does pretty well in a kennel but she will bark for a minute or two if left alone from her favorite people. The barking usually ends pretty quickly though, and she keeps herself busy chewing on a treat or taking a quick nap.

Going on walks and exploring is Sally’s favorite thing besides hugging people. Like a true hound she spends lots of time with her nose to the ground trying to smell every scent she can. A family with a fenced yard, or someone that enjoys walks or runs would be great for her and give her lots of time to explore and enjoy the outdoors. Due to Sally’s love of giving hugs we would suggest testing her out with small children to make sure she will not knock them down. She will do extremely well both with a family or a single person home. She just wants to love and bond.

Sally is not currently potty trained so a new owner will need to work on this with her. She has spent nights in our the homes of our foster care group and has not had accidents, so she will likely do well once she has a routine in home environment.

Sally has done fine with other dogs that she has met at Healthy Hound but she has not been exposed to daycare yet. If you currently have a dog and are considering Sally as a 2nd+ dog, a meet and greet with your dog(s) would be the best idea to see how they get on.
