Name:   Charlie Baldwin
Description:   ~ 9 yrs old ~ 30 lbs ~ fostered in Great Mills, MD ~

Charlie’s personality is really starting to come through now that he is more comfortable in his new environment. One of the pictures below shows him lying in the pantry - food container behind him!!! He does love to chow down. And really loves a treat and a belly rub. He has started to roll over and offer his belly when we approach him. Lots of trust now. Another picture needs no description! He is sleeping blissfully in front of the fireplace snoring like a grown man.

He had Spa Day yesterday (bath, nails, ears, etc.) at Wag and Wash. Cooper, Peyton and Jack (foster beagle brothers) go monthly for baths, etc. so Charlie was naturally included. He did very well! Zack said he really enjoyed the bath. He didn’t nip, cry or howl the entire time he was in the tub. Back in the crate was another story. He serenaded everyone at Wag and Wash for about 90 minutes!

Which brings me to his voice: it’s back! He sounded very hoarse when he first arrived but has since quieted down, and his beagle howl is back. He’s eating well and joins the other boys in the back yard for their walkabouts. He’s still not ready to “play”. Jack tries so hard to engage him in a game of chase but Charlie just looks at him like he’s crazy and walks away. He started to run today! He went with his foster pack outside and ran across the deck and down to the back yard howling like a happy boy!! Charlie also loves to look out the window so we’ve started opening the shutters for his viewing pleasure!

He has become very attached to his foster dad. He was definitely a family member and most likely a man’s dog. They have bonded! Charlie loves to snuggle in his lap in the chair as evident in one of the pictures. Jack wiggled his way in, and Peyton is relegated to the floor for his share of love. Just not enough lap!

Charlie looks to have lost a pound or two allowing him to actually jump onto our bed on his own. And yes, he is welcome. They all climb in for turn down service and snuggle under the covers at our feet. It’s been really cold lately so we appreciate the extra warmth that Charlie brings! Ha ha !
