Name:   Yankee
Description:   Lab Mix ~ 8 yrs old ~ 45 lbs. ~ Fostered in Kensington, MD ~ Yankee is a very active playful fellow. He loves both people and dogs, and interacts well with both. Although he was born to a beagle mix mother in our rescue (Wrigley), his dad was obviously a black Labrador. He is very handsome with a soft, sleek black coat highlighted by white patches on his chest, toes and lips. He is energetic and plays well with his foster siblings. He enjoys running around the backyard and then settling on his pillow in his foster's bedroom for the night. Yankee has great manners, is crate trained, walks well on a leash, sits on command and comes when called. He is patient at meal time and waits his turn when treats are being handed out. In general he is a well behaved dog with manners. He was raised in a loving home, but was returned to our rescue for medical reasons. Yankee does have a chronic condition that requires continued care, and for that reason Yankee is eligible for Beagle Maryland’s Friends of Winston Program. In general Yankee does not act like he is feeling badly. He races out the back door, talks to the dogs a couple of yards over, tells us when folks are passing the house with or without dogs, and plays wholeheartedly with his brothers. He is a sweet and loving guy that just needs a little extra helping hand to live a comfortable and active lifestyle as your best friend. Adoptive Status: Neutered, UTD on shots, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Obviously, Yankee needs someone who will be attentive to his medical needs throughout the rest of his life.
